Mac 8.5 to 9.2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PPP or Remote Access To manually setup your connection: 1. Click the Apple, then Control Panel, then Remote Access. (Note: Remote Access is also known as PPP in earlier version of Mac OS) 2. Enter Username in the Name box, and Password in the Password box. 3. Type the local access number. Then, click the Options button. 4. Set the Redial option to Off. Then, Click the Connection tab. 5. Make sure that Use verbose logging is not checked. The options under Reminders are optional: - Flash icon in menu bar while connected (an icon will blink over top of the Apple so that you know the computer is connected) - Prompt every # of minutes to maintain connection (will cause Remote Access to ask if you want to disconnect after # minutes). - Disconnect if idle for # minutes 6. Then, click onto the Protocol tab. 7. Set the Use Protocol option to PPP These options should be checked: - Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications - Allow error correction and compression in modem - Use TCP header compression 8. Click OK. After youŽve configured the Remote Access Options, youŽll need to configure TCP/IP. 1. To open TCP/IP, go to the Apple menu, then Control Panels then click on TCP/IP 2. Enter the settings for the following: - Connect via: Select PPP - Configure: Select Using PPP Server - Name server Addresses: 206.229.220.2 and 206.229.221.12 - Search domains: weir.net If there is an Options button on the lower right of the TCP/IP window, click it, and make TCP/IP Active. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
