    PART 1: Make sure Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP are installed
  1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel; then double-click Network icon
  2. Look at he list of installed network components. If Dialup Adapter and TCP/IP are already listed, skip to step #5.
  3. If needed, add the Dialup Adapter as follows: Click Add, then double-click Adapter. Scroll down the list and select Microsoft. Click Dial-Up Adapter and click OK.
  4. If needed add TCP/IP as follows: Click Add, then double-click Protocol. Scroll down the list and select Microsoft. Click TCP/IP and click OK.
  5. Click OK to save. If asked to restart the system, click Yes to restart.
    PART 2: Make a New Dial-Up Networking Connection
  1. Double-click My Computer, then double-click Dial-Up Networking
  2. Double-click Make New Connection
  3. For the name of computer you're dialing, type: WeirNet. Click Next>
  4. Type the access number for WeirNet. (794-0300 or 794-0002) Click Next> Click Finish.
    PART 3: Configure the New Connection
  1. Point your mouse to the newly created WeirNet icon, press your right mouse button, and click Properties.
  2. First, uncheck the Use Country Code/Dial Properties box.
    Then modify the telephone number for your location.
    (33.6k modems): 794-0002     (56k/v90 modems): 794-0300
    If you need to call area code, add 1-304- in front of number. To disable call-waiting, add *70, in front of number.
  3. Click the Server Types tab
  4. Type of Dial-Up Server is "PPP: Windows95/98 WindowsNT 3.5/Internet."
  5. In Options/Protocols checkboxes, ONLY two items ahould be checked: "Enable Software Compression" and "TCP/IP." UNCHECK ALL OTHERS
  6. Click TCP/IP Settings.
  7. Make sure Server Assigned IP Address is selected
  8. Make sure Specify Name Server Addresses is selected
  9. Enter Primary DNS: 206.229.220.2 and Secondary DNS: 206.229.221.12
  10. Leave the Primary and Secondary WINS configuration at 0.0.0.0
  11. "IP Header Compression" and "Default Gateway" should be checked
  12. Click OK, click OK again, and click OK once more.
    PART 4: Create a Shortcut to WeirNet Connection icon
  1. Point your mouse to the newly created WeirNet icon, press your right mouse button, and click "Create a Shortcut"
  2. Click OK to place shortcut on your desktop.
    PART 5: Connecting and Browsing
  1. Double-click your "Shortcut to WeirNet" icon.
  2. Type your WeirNet username ____________________ and password (Important: must use all lowercase letters, with no extra spaces). Click Connect.
  3. Once connected, begin browsing the 'Net with your "Internet Explorer" (the blue "e" icon on your desktop).
